Back to “normal”? (Juy 2020)
I’ve been healing from a serious physical injury at the same time we’ve been percolating inside the Covid-19 pandemic. The medical professionals give no guarantees as to what recovery may look like, either for my injury or for the worldwide pandemic. So, where do we go from here?
I suppose we all have to get used to a new “normal”. My new normal includes no guitar playing for a while. What's the ancient saying, “…the arm of flesh will fail you…”
The world we live in is a wonderful, beautiful, awe-inspiring marvel, but not always a friendly place.
A friend reminded me that I can choose to focus on the injury or on the healing. Cup half-empty or cup half-full. I suddenly realize that, regardless of what brought me here, I now have a front-row seat to the eye-opening experience of the wonderful and incomprehensible healing processes that are already well underway. It seems as though someone knew this would be a bumpy ride and actually planned for it.
As I study the anatomy of the human body and experience first-hand the healing processes, I’m amazed. Any engineer or project manager would drool over the possibility of designing and implementing a system that would not only function as the human body does, but also repair itself when injured. There’s a Designer out there who had some foresight...
I’m immensely thankful for all the help that has been afforded by health-care providers who have served me these last few months. I do hope, however, that we lay the highest praise at the feet of the One who designed, created and sustains us.
As David, an ancient Hebrew king, wrote, “…I am fearfully and wonderfully made…”
